Birch opened its doors to the English countryside and welcomed guests with a socially distanced fire pit dinner in the brisk Hertfordshire air. Iconic Luxury Hotels’ much-lauded project, The Mayfair Townhouse, dazzled during a gentle December 2020 opening. While their celebrations were short-lived (forced to close due to lockdown 3.0), their hard work on additional outdoor dining facilities stands them in good stead for a scheduled reopening in early 2021, when COVID-19 distancing protocols will undoubtedly still be the norm.
With continued optimism of the vaccine rollout, Spring 2021 will likely see a burst of openings as many COVID-stalled projects come online. With this in mind, and to celebrate the unsung heroes who have taken the punishing decision to ‘hold off’, we ask ourselves and the industry a simple question:
