Make has created new workplace interiors for levels 30–31 of the Pinnacle One office tower in Chengdu, which we also designed. The design centres on the concept of a village – albeit one that’s modern and international. Key themes of warmth, simplicity and community underpin everything, from the layout to the materials.

The rectangular plan features a glazed and fibre cement-panelled corridor with integrated timber display cases for artwork and company awards. The spaces on either side include private and open-plan workspaces, meeting and training rooms, two boardrooms, and breakout areas. The 30th floor is bookended by the main reception and a spiral staircase, which starts in the lounge-like Conservatory.

The reception desk and feature stair are both clad in a striking polished stainless steel, while other materials provide a grey and monochrome backdrop with textural accents. Front-of-house is finished with grey terrazzo flooring, while back-of-house workspace is carpeted. To emphasise the village concept, each department is differentiated by varying textured tiles and grey tones.

We’ve also included two cafés, a gym, showers, a makeup counter, and a baby-care room. The main reception and corridor double as art galleries, while greenery is used to connect spaces.
