Peter Greaves, Make partner and lead project architect, said: “We hope the curved geometry of the cinema, combined with the creative use of recycled materials, will encourage curiosity whilst providing a striking and exciting visual impact within the exhibition space. The simple design will allow the structure to be easily constructed and deconstructed before and after exhibition.”
Ecobuild, the world’s leading event for sustainable design, construction, energy and the built environment, launched the open-entry filmmaking competition in 2013. The sustainable built environment film festival is organised and produced by designer Henrietta Lynch and aims to provide an international showcase for films and animations about sustainable development and construction.
The judges for the Regeneration Film Festival competition have now shortlisted five potential winning films:
- ‘The A13 Green’ by Tomo Brody and The Brick Box
- ‘Factory Home’ by John Killock
- ‘Open to the Public’ by Lily Bernheimer & Paper Tiger TV
- ‘Constructing the Greenway’ by Catalyst Housing
- ‘Scratching the Surface’ by Nathan Hughes
These together with other selected entries for the film festival will be shown at Ecobuild and the winner will be presented with The Gold Brick award, supported by Igloo Regeneration, at the Building Awards by RIBA’s Stephen Hodder in April 2014.
